HEAT RESOURCES/WINTER '08 - '09

HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) is a program through Social Services which provides grants towards heating.  Do not assume that you are not eligible.  This year, those who earn up to $56,400. annually can get a one time emergency heating grant of $800. (after January 2009).  There is also extra money available for Senior Citizens.  Inquire when you apply.

Also, call the Citizens Energy Oil Heat Program in December at 1-877-563-4645 to request an application for assistance. More information regarding other heat programs are available at:  www.citizensenergy.com (although many of the links are not working).

*Note: If you are not a citizen, you are still eligible for some benefits through Social Services, such as food stamps and emergency Medicaid (medical insurance).  Also Community Action in Dover has financial help for Dutchess County residents who are not citizens.  If you have a child who was born in the United States, they are eligible for additional benefits.  In Dutchess County contact Social Services or Community Action (845-876-1611 x103).
